Drugs of Abuse and Chinese Medicine
Many drugs have addictive qualities. And illicit drugs can still be described with much of the same language and parameters as pharmaceutical agents. As Chinese medical practitioners, we see our patients taking and potentially abusing opioids, benzodiazepines, anorexiants, and cannabis as well as drugs of abuse. We will look at the nature of addiction as well as categories of illicit drugs, while diving into the details.
This course will be presented on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 1-3pm via live webinar.
Course Goals
A participant will be able to:
- Understand how addiction occurs and its components
- Explore how major drugs of abuse act on the body
- Discuss how these drugs may act according to Chinese medical principles
