Herbs that Act Like Antibiotics and Antivirals

For most of human history, infections have been life threatening. In fact, until the last hundred years or so, they have been the leading cause of death. Chinese medicine, of course, has many approaches to treating infections, mostly centered around using herbs. Modern research has found many of these herbs have antimicrobial properties. This course takes a deep dive into herbs that act like antibiotic and antiviral drugs. We will be exploring how the drugs and herbs work from a bio- and Chinese medical point of view. Can we use these herbs to replace certain drugs? Can understanding these drugs help us understand these herbs at a new level? Please join us as we explore these herbsโ€ฆ

Course Goals

A participant in this course will be able to:

  1. Understand antibiotic and antiviral drug classes and how they act on the body
  2. Understand antibiotic and antiviral herbs and how they act on the body
  3. Identify the potential for drug-herb interactions between these herbs and drugs
