Other Antimicrobial Drugs and Chinese Medicine

This seminar will spend quite a bit of time discussing antivirals used to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), coronavirus, herpes, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and some hepatitides. Additionally, antifungal, antiprotozoal, and anthelminthic (anti-worm) agents will be discussed. These discussions will, by necessity, also include life cycles of many of these of these pathogens. Within each type of agent, we will examine functions, red flag issues, mechanisms of action, adverse effects, and any potential interactions. This will be a fascinating exploration of some frequently treated conditions by Chinese medical practitioners as well as some that are quite uncommon.
