Treating Depression and Anxiety with Chinese Medicine
Depression and anxiety affects 40 million people in the United States (https://adaa.org/understanding-anxiety/facts-statistics). And Chinese medicine can help. A lot. First, we will explore the biomedical side of these conditions: what are they, how are they diagnosed and monitored, what are the current treatments (including drugs, therapy, etc…) and how effective are they. Then we will look at potential Chinese medical diagnoses and how to treat them using acupuncture and herbs.
Course Goals
A participant in this course will be able to:
- Understand depression and anxiety from a biomedical perspective
- Apply Chinese and biomedical diagnostics to patients with depression and anxiety
- Develop appropriate and effective treatment strategies
- Properly document the diagnosis and treatment
