Pharmacogenomics and Chinese Medicine
In our Drug-Herb Series, we have discussed many classes and subclasses of drugs, how they work, and their interface with Chinese medicine. This seminar explores something a bit different: we will be introducing the recently developed area of genomic medicine, also referred to as personalized or precision medicine. We will discuss genetics and their interface with pharmacology by looking at drug-metabolizing enzymes, drug transporters, and hypersensitivity reactions. While many of these play a role in drug-herb interactions, the emphasis will be on the current prescribing of medications and lay the foundation for the future of medication. And, the whole time, we will attempt to discuss how these interact with our Chinese medicine.
This course will be presented on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 1-3pm pdt via live webinar.
